Shrestha's shop - are you being served?

Jaipur, Friday 8 February 2013

Welcome to the Shrestha Shop! Here you can browse a selection of Indian products, with the proceeds going to help improve the lives of the children in the slum that Shrestha works with.

We've got three departments here in the shop: bags, shawls and trousers. There's also a jewellery department, which will follow in another post. It's unbelievably cheap... under two pounds for trousers or a nice bag. I've given a rough price in British pounds, but the exchange rate varies of course. It's around 88 rupees to the pound at the moment, as a guide.

If you should happen to fancy any of these, just let me know and I'll figure it out with Nitesh. Happy browsing!

The bag and purse department

125 rupees (about one pound forty-two pence)

70 rupees each (80p)

150 rupees (about one pound seventy pence)

150 rupees (about one pound seventy pence)

85 rupees (90-odd pence)

45 rupees (about 50p)

110 rupees (one pound 25p)

The shawl/scarf department

All the scarves are 200 rupees (about two pounds thirty pence).

The trouser department

The trousers are in one size. Given that they've an elasticated waist and ankles, and are designed to be baggy, they should work for people of a fair range of sizes. If I get a chance to try on a pair, I'll update this and describe how they fit me.
These (above and immediately below) are 175 rupees, which is about one pound ninety-nine pence.

These are 200 rupees, about two pounds and twenty-seven pence.
